review: Lost and Found by Elle Casey

Lost and Found by Elle Casey

My rating:  4/5
Love in New York #1
Published: 2014
Genre:  Contemporary Romance

Summary –

Sometimes engagement rings can get lost and then found. Sometimes people can too. All it takes is a heavy-duty dose of karma and the magic of Manhattan to make it all come together.

Leah is a financially destitute new age hippy. James is a wealthy surgeon with a trust fund. She's awkward, he's poised. She's completely crazy, he's way too sane. People might say they have nothing in common, but they'd be wrong. They both live in Manhattan, they both have no idea how to change a baby diaper, and they're both lost … until they find one another.
(Thanks to for the summary)

My Thoughts –

I loved Lost and Found.  I laughed and laughed and laughed some more.  This book has it all: comedy, drama, romance and more!  Leah pulls some hilarious shenanigans…and the exploding diaper scene is pee you pants funny!  The chemistry/snark between Leah and James is intense…super intense.  I love these two.  He doesn’t want it and she just wants to return it and neither of them will give in

Great job to the author!  It flowed well, had great dialogue and was not overly descriptive…I loved this.  I look forward to reading more in this series and more from you in general.

review: The Last Seeker by Fleur Camacho

The Last Seeker by
My rating:  3/5
Tristen #1
Published: 10/16/16
Genre:  YA Paranormal/UF

Summary –
Tristen wakes to find a man watching him from the mirror.  A chill runs through Tristen’s body as the familiar robed priest stares at him longingly. The priest struggles to open his mouth; the stitches that lace his lips together slowly rip apart and jut raggedly from his mouth. His bloody lips stretch wide as he leans towards Tristen, trying to suck him into a deep black hole.

Ever since Tristen, a sixteen year old teenager, is assigned to work with Ailey on a school project, his life takes a thrilling and alarming turn. Tristen can’t stop the inexorable pull he feels toward Ailey; just being around her draws him in completely, blindly and with disastrous consequences. At the same time, an evil priest invades Tristen’s dreams and threatens to kill his mom.

Soon, Tristen and his friends find themselves magically transported to Fifteenth Century France and Tristen discovers that he is the last-born Seeker - destined to save the past and the influential figures who shape it. When someone tries to kill him, Tristen must make a choice: embrace his destined purpose and risk losing everything or be stuck in the past running for his life forever.

This is not a novel about vampires, werewolves or ghosts. This is not your regular romantic, time traveling, coming-of-age story. This is the first book in a magical, paranormal, fantasy series about a regular kid who finds out he is destined to become the new Seeker to save the world from a bloody ending. If Tristen had known that pairing up with Ailey would trigger a magical ancient prophecy ushering in the beginning of the end of the world, he might have stayed in bed that day.  (Thanks to for the summary)

My Thoughts –
I enjoyed The Last Seeker.  It’ out of my usual genre (I don’t usually read YA or historicals), but I kept wanting to find out what would happen next.  The writing was great, editing was good and the characters/situations were well planned but overly descriptive.  The story flowed smoothly and did not disappoint.

The bond between Ailey and Tristen is unique and something where you just know there has to be more too it.  I’m still kind of up in the air about Isolda…first Tristen, then Greg and then what the heck?  Too wishy washy for my liking.  Find a new girl, just sayin’.

Overall – great story.  I look forward to reading not only more in this series, but more by this author.

I was running from my husband, a man I thought I’d known.
Running from the hell he had put me through.

He’d nearly destroyed the woman I had once been and
I would do whatever it took to regain my freedom.

I would lie, and cheat.
I would steal if it meant that I never had to go back there.

I’d run and keep running…

But there was one problem. I hadn’t planned for Ashton Montgomery.  He was a distraction I couldn’t allow. Not if I wanted to stay safe. I had to remain distant, but he was relentless and had other ideas.
I caved because I hadn’t thought it all through, not in detail.

If I had I would’ve realized that you can only live in a fantasy world for so long before everything came crashing in around you.  And those lives you’ve destroyed along the way, make you no better than the monster you were trying to break free from.

How could I have been so careless?
It wasn’t meant to turn out this way.
But the Rush of my freedom took control and I forgot how important it was to keep the secret of who I had once been.

And now I had nothing.
Only the fear that the man I’d run from would find me again, and finish what he started.

I'm not sure what the author did while writing this novel, but OH.EM.GEE. she certainly NAILED it. Now, I've LOVED all her other books, but this one....this one was just so much better!! WOW! I was HOOKED and I seriously could not put this book down. The story line had more depth, more emotion...GAH! I don't know quite how to explain it, but this book was just EPIC.

Ashton was DELICIOUS and Kinsley was a strong heroine. I loved how despite Ash being an alpha male, he knew how to treat and love Kinsley, especially after everything she had been through. I loved seeing her character grow and come out of her shell alongside Ashton. It was truly heart-warming.

The plot had angst-driven scenes, hot and passionate moments, and some humor too (LOVED LEX!). Ashton's brothers we SO DAMN SEXY TOO, I cannot help but feel all kinds of excited to see what Ms. Harms has up her sleeve for this series.
