review: California Caress - Rebecca Sinclair

California CaressCalifornia Caress by Rebecca Sinclair

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Hope Bennett was determined to save her brother's life. And if that meant paying notorious gunslinger Drake Frazier to take his place in a fight, she'd barter her last gold nugget. But Hope soon discovered she'd have to give the handsome rattlesnake more than riches if she wanted his help. His improper demands infuriated her; even as she luxuriated in the tantalizing heat of his embrace, she refused to yield to her desires. She'd accept his terms, then find a way to escape him... somehow... (Goodreads)

California Caress is a trial of one woman’s quest of survival and love. From the get go, Hope is a character with determination and gumption. The situations she gets herself into are comical and disastrous. She’s a fighter and never gave up, even when situations were extremely bleak. Drake’s character is really an arrogant prig most of the story. True, he’s got his own issues going on but the manner in which he does something is atrocious at times.

The chemistry and attraction is clearly evident between Drake and Hope throughout the story and believable. The action/danger element to the story worked very well also. I didn’t really care for the part regarding the brother and sister in law, but it was needed for the most part to segue into the next adventure for Hope.

Aside from several grammatical and spelling issues, I truly enjoyed this story. It’s a great combination of comic relief, history, adventure and romance.

Thank you to the author for providing me with this story for a fair, honest review!

  1. Thank you so much for taking time to read and review California Caress! I have a soft spot for fair, honest reviews, so you can see where I *really* appreciate yours. :)

I apologize for the spelling errors; most were actually glitches from the the scan that had to be made due to the book never having been computerized. (In order to release it digitally, CC had to be scanned in from an old, print copy that was far from perfect.) The grammatical errors, of course, are the fault of no one but myself.

I'm glad you enjoyed the story and found you could relate to Hope. What more can an author hope for from her reader?

Again, my sincere thanks for your time and attention. :)
