- BOOK TRAILER -

My Thoughts:

I thought Lies was an emotional, action packed, steamy read.  I really think is was bad timing for the coupe to start, but I think they had excellent chemistry.  Honestly, I think their relationship is doomed.  He lied, he had to, but he still lied.  The things he had to do and then to run to her right after was kind of messed up, especially when it went way too deep.  I liked this story, but it's kind of a dark read.  Great work to the author!!

- EXCERPT -

“I like the red ones,” Josh said before turning back toward the display of lingerie. “Oh, and this color. Is that teal?” He lifted up the pair of panties and held them out before him.

I smiled as a younger guy three feet away ducked his head in embarrassment.

“Now these would look fucking amazing on you. Damn, baby.” Josh’s eyes gleamed in excitement as he looked up at me. “I may go broke if you keep bringing me to places like these.”

I giggled as I grabbed the pink, lacy, and completely see-through nightie he held in his other hand.

“We’ll take one of these in every color you have,” he hollered to the clerk.

I hid my head against his chest and tickled his sides.
“What?” he grunted and tried to pull back from my assault. “You can’t blame me for trying, sweetheart.
Forget about getting dressed daily. I think you should live in these nighties.”

I tilted my head and looked up at him. “You are insatiable.” I rose up on my tiptoes, bringing my lips close to his. “And extremely adorable.”

He closed the distance and kissed me, wrapping his arm around my waist securely. His tongue rolled with mine, and for a moment I forgot we were standing in the center of a department store. Someone cleared their throat, and I broke the kiss to look over my shoulder. An older salesperson was giving us a disapproving glare.

“Sorry,” I offered. When I turned back to face Josh, he was grinning from ear to ear.

“So—” He waggled his eyebrows suggestively. “—we are getting some of these. Right?”

I lifted up the light pink nightie and shook it in front of his face. “We’ll get this one and the red one,” I assured him as I walked toward the sales clerk at the checkout counter. When I looked back over my shoulder, Josh was smiling brightly and following close behind.

“Now that’s my girl. Looks like tonight we’re staying in.”

I rolled my eyes and turned forward again as he chuckled.

review: The Bite of Winter by Lauren Smith

Zoey is down on her luck, homeless and jobless over Christmas. When she's attacked in an alley, she's rescued by two century old Irish vampires named Ian and Connor. It's up to them to win her heart over Christmas.

Looking for a sexy menage story? Look no further than THE BITE OF WINTER by Lauren Smith.  And even better? THE BITE OF WINTER isn’t *just* a menage, it’s a menage with two sexy vampires, what more could a girl ask for?!

Synoposis:

Zoey Blake is about as far down on her luck as she can get. A car crash took her parents, leaving her destitute and on the street. When she’s attacked by another homeless person, her lifeblood drains away as her fading vision is filled with the face of a handsome stranger.

Ian Kennedy, a century old Irish vampire, never could resist rescuing a stray. As a few drops of his blood heals Zoey’s wounds, he realizes she’s a sweet, tempting, flesh-and-blood woman. But there’s one problem. Connor, who made Ian promise decades ago: no more mortal lovers.

After another vampire murdered his soulmate, Connor O’Shea swore never to let a mortal woman pay the price for loving him. Until he feels Zoey’s skin and tastes her lips. She makes him want to break that vow.

Zoey finds herself caught in their web of seduction. But as Christmas draws near and her grief deepens, happiness seems far out of reach. And Ian and Connor join forces to prove their love is sacred, special…and forever.

Warning: This book contains two scorching-hot Irish vampires, one lady with plenty of pluck but zero luck, naughty lingerie, and enough Christmas cheer to redeem even the darkest creatures.

My Thoughts -
I enjoyed The Bite of Winter.  I'm not sure I was totally in love with the characters, but the story was fast paced and pretty darn hot.  Some of the dialogue was a bit cheesy, but I guess when the vamps are Irish and from before the Great Famine, you get cheesy.  I thought the story was good but it needed something more, like some kind of something it just didn't have.  It's short, easy to read and the sensual scenes are decent.

My Thoughts:

I really enjoyed Slow Ride.  I felt Coop and Julia had excellent chemistry and were a great pairing.  I liked the back story of their history as kids and I also liked the pace of the novella.  This book had a lot of humor, hot smexy time and some even more hot smexy time!  The story flowed well, the descriptions weren't overly wordy and the use of relatable dialogue was refreshing.  Great job the the author, I look forward to more in this series ans well as others!!

review: Harder by Robin York

Harder by Robin York

My rating:  4/5
Series: Caroline & West #2
DRC provided by NetGalley for an honest review
Published:  7/1/2014
Genre:  New Adult Contemporary Romance

Summary –

In Robin York’s provocative new novel, two young ex-lovers find themselves together again in the shadow of tragedy—and an intense, undeniable attraction.

Caroline still dreams about West. His warm skin, his taut muscles, his hand sliding down her stomach. Then she wakes up and she’s back to reality: West is gone. And before he left, he broke her heart.

Then, out of the blue, West calls in crisis. A tragedy has hit his family—a family that’s already a fractured mess. Caroline knows what she has to do. Without discussion, without stopping to think, she’s on a plane, flying to his side to support him in any way he needs.

They’re together again, but things are totally different. West looks edgy, angry at the world. Caroline doesn’t fit in. She should be back in Iowa, finalizing her civil suit against the ex-boyfriend who posted their explicit pictures on a revenge porn website. But here she is. Deeply into West, wrapped up in him, in love with him. Still.

They fought the odds once. Losing each other was hard. But finding their way back to each other couldn’t be harder.  (Thanks to GoodReads.com for the summary)

My Thoughts –

Harder is the continuation of a hard fought romance between West and Caroline.  I absolutely loved Deeper and know Hared would not disappoint, and it didn’t.  Robin York wrote characters that you really feel heartbroken for in this series, so much so it’s hurts in your chest.

This was not a breezy love story.  It was much heavier and painful than Deeper, but no less awesome.  West really went through some bad stuff here and Caro didn’t give up on him.

I think the writing was great, the use of dialogue spot on and the story flowed like a river.   Great job to the author, I look forward to reading more from Robin York in the future, for sure.

Summary –

May Fredericks hates New York. Which is fair enough, since New York seems to hate her back. Just weeks after moving from Wisconsin to Manhattan, she receives the world's worst marriage proposal, stabs her boyfriend with a shrimp fork in a very public venue, and accidentally becomes notorious. And that’s before she gets mugged.

At her wit's end, May washes up at a Packers bar in Greenwich Village, where she meets a surly, unhelpful guy who hates her shoes and calls her ex a douche.

His name is Ben. He used to be a chef. Now he's a rooftop beekeeper with anger management issues. She wouldn't even like him, but he reminds her of home … and he knows where to find all the best food in the Village.

She makes him laugh. He buys her tacos and cowboy boots. The longer they’re stuck together, the better May and Ben get along … and the harder they fall. TRULY is a quirky, modern New York love story unlike any you've read before.
(Thanks to GoodReads.com for the summary)

My Thoughts –

Truly is a witty, sexy, fantastic story of two strangers coming together in the most perfect way.  I absolutely adored this book.  I laughed out loud, swooned and felt all the emotions in between.

I love grumpy ass Ben.  He’s a hoot and a bee keeper to boot.  I like the uniqueness of his character and I like that he puts May out of her comfort zone in the city she hates so much.  May is a pretty likable character as well.

I like that there was no cliffhanger and I like the general idea around this story.  Great god to the author – I will definitely be reading more from Ruthie Knox in the future!!
