review: Love Like the Movies by Victoria Van Tiem

A contemporary romantic comedy from Simon & Schuster’s Pocket Star by Victoria Van Tiem.
In this irresistible romantic romp, movie fanatic, Kensington Shaw is thrown into love—Hollywood-style–when her gorgeous ex presents a big screen challenge to win back her heart. What girl wouldn’t want to experience the Pretty Woman shopping scene? It’s number two on the list. Or, try the lift from Dirty Dancing? It’s number five. One list, ten romantic movie moments, and a handful of shenanigans later, Kenzi has to wonder…should she marry the man her family loves, or risk everything for a love like the movies?

My thoughts -

Love Like the Movies is a hilarious, fun, smexy read.  It’s easy to read, fast paced and extremely witty.

I like Kenzi, but I felt like through most the story that she needed to grow a pair and go for what she wanted – not what she thought her parents would approve of.  Bradley and Kenzi have absolutely no chemistry.  She’s settling with him because she never got over Shane.  I also think Kenzi’s mother is a horrible person/mother.  Ugh, I wanted to B-slap her more than once throughout the story.  Shane is awesome.  He made a mistake in the past and going through the scenes in the movies is the best way to win back Kenzi’s heart.  Love it!!

I love the chemistry between Shane and Kenzi is intense and electric.  I love the pair of them together.  I love their banter and I love the story of their connection.  Great job to the author!
