Primal Instincts #7 - Rush of Darkness by Rhyannon Byrd

Rush of Darkness (Primal Instinct, #7)Rush of Darkness by Rhyannon Byrd

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Spoilers!!! Awesome and spectacular!

Months ago, Seth rescued Raine from captivity by the evil Casus and Westmore. After Raine has mostly recovered from the physical and mental injuries inflicted upon her by the Casus and Westmore, Raine is out for revenge. She's left the Watchmen and taken a Marker, an ancient cross that is the only sure fore way to permanently send a Casus to hell, and has a list - a s*hit* list. She out to get the 5 men who killed she little sister.

Seth hasn't been able to get Raine out of his mind since he pulled the half vampire, half psychic beauty out of the Westmore compound months ago. He's just learned she's left he Watchmen and he's not happy. Seth thought she was safe with them, not exacting revenge on the monsters that put her through hell. He catches up with her and enacts and ancient vampire blood oath to let him be able to protect her and keep an eye on her.
Raine hates the idea, but concedes after Seth helps her out of a bad situation in an alley with 2 Casus. They agree travel Europe to find the next monster on her list. At the same time, each with some personal hangups, Raine and Seth give into their feeling for each other had have some hot-monkey lovin sweaty time together. Raine and Seth finds the next baddie on the list, but a couple baddies from the past show up as well. Some goodies show up too and the day is saved.

The Watchmen find the rest of the Markers, finally, and make their way to the Meridian to decimate the Casus once and for all. Raine wants to make sure Seth is safe, because after all he is only human, so she ensures Seth can't make it to the final baddie battle. Because Seth is so awesome, he makes it there anyway and saves her ass when she's about to bite it. HEA.

OK - I really liked this one. I loved Seth and Raine. Seth was this damaged, broken finally found the light guy who realized one group of baddies doesn't make the entire race bad. Raine had been tortured, raped and her sister was killed because of her. She had so much anger and hatred inside of her, it was dampening her psychic abilities.

Seth wanted her but the thought of her biting him was something he couldn't handle - understandable considering that when he was a teenager her was tortured int he most horrendous ways by the group of rogue vampires who slaughtered his family, in front of him. He loved her and wanted to spend his life with her, but he just couldn't do that for her. Unfortunately it was what she needed to really know that Seth didn't find her disgusting and that he really loved her.

I really felt for these characters and wanted them to be able to get together in all the ways they needed to. It was awesome to see them overcome their issues and have their happily-ever-after. Seth and Raine's chemistry was unbelievable and their story was spectacular. I loved the plot, the writing and brashness of it all. So looking forward to the next one!!
