Spoilers!!! GRRRReat!
Kellan, a wolf shifting Watchman (the po-po of the supernatural world), has been captured by the evil Westmore - a Kraven working to free the nasty Casus form the Meridian. He did it on purpose though, all so he could rescue the half Merrick half witch Chloe Harcourt in hopes that his family and friends wouldn't see him as a screw-up anymore.
Chloe's been in captivity for months now and needs to fully feed her Merrick, but is weary of letting anyone get close to her because of a curse put on her family eons ago - especially Kellan.
With the help of another prisoner, Raine the psychic half vampire, Kellan gains Chloe's trust and devises a way for them to escape the compound they're being held at. They escape and hook up with the other Watchmen and start to travel from the Wasteland towards safety. The group has to go the long way because the Death-Walkers have created an army of Inffectado (zombie like people they've bitten) to cause havoc on the world and defeat the Watchmen.
Chloe and Kellan fight their feelings for each for different reasons. Chloe believes Kellan is only drawn to her because of the Harcourt curse, wherein the witches are like magnets for emotions and amplify everyone's feeling that they are around. Kellan is under the impression that he's going to die due to a poisonous vampire bite he'd received shortly before being captured.
In a final attempt to stupidly go off alone and try to save Chole's life, he leaves the safety of the compound they're in and heads off to find the baddie. He encounters the vampire whom bite him and almost dies. He's given the antidote to the poison and heads off to find the Casus after Chloe. He finds his group of people instead, looking for him.
The baddie catches up and Chloe's witch powers kick in and she defeats the baddie along with Kellan's help. They confess their love and HEA.
I liked this one quite a bit. Kellan is a great character and he grew a lot in this installment of the series. Chloe was cool, but needed to believe in herself more, which is a pretty common female problem. Their chemistry was intense and so were their sensual scenes. Great series, great story. Looking forward to Seth and Raine's story!!
