Follow Friday - (8.2.13) To DNF or finish, that is the question...

This weeks Question:
How do you handle a book you don’t like? Do you DNF or do you power through?
I try and get through it.  It's very rare that I DNF a book.  It took me over a year to finish Queen of the Damned, but I did.  Hated it too.  I think it's more of a curiousity is killing my cat kind of thing.  BUT I always give an honest review.  Like my blog says - I write about how books rock and suck.  Some people may not like my opinion, but it's there none the less.

  1. I loved Queen of the Damned, but it was one very long book. The movie sucked.

Sometimes I'll set a book aside for a couple of months and see if a fresh perspective will make me like the book. Sometimes on the second or third try, the book becomes enjoyable. :)

  2. I agree. Sometimes it takes me a while to finish a book just because I set it aside. New follower via GFC.

  3. I usually DNF. If I stay, it's only for the characters. New follower, I'm #16 :)

  4. I admire you for sticking to a book, I have a tendency to reach a point and DNF!

  5. Usually I will give it 50-100 pages but it has to be fast-paced to keep my interest. I admire you for sticking with a book for a year but for me, I just don't have the time. I have my own writing and so many other books on my tbr pile to work through. Saying that, I do only have 1 DNF :)

  6. I hate to not finish a book. It does happen occasionally though. I always give it my best effort before giving up.
